Before you pack your bags for Dubai, it is important to arrange a visit visa. Without it, you practically cannot enter the UAE. In 2026, the new visit visa rules in UAE have brought more visit visa categories along with easy extensions. As a traveller, or someone who would like to invite their family or friends over, you should be aware of these changes.

So, treat this guide as your rulebook, where we have mentioned every updated visit visa in UAE you should know, including:

  • New UAE visit visa categories
  • Current visit visa renewal rules
  • Updated documentation
  • Strict overstay fines

What is a visit visa in UAE?

If you plan to travel to UAE for 30, 60, or even 90 days, you will need a visit visa to enter the country. It is available as a single-entry visa, where you can enter only once, or a multiple-entry visa, where you can enter, exit, and re-enter again within a limited time.

You may apply for a visit visa when coming to UAE for multiple reasons, such as:

  • Tourism and leisure
  • Visiting family
  • Medical purposes
  • A business trip
  • A short stay or trip
  • Exploring jobs

Nonetheless, you must obtain a visit visa whenever you plan to travel to Dubai for short-term (usually non-residency) purposes.

What are the new visit visa rules in UAE for 2026?

In 2025 and early 2026, ICP and GDRFA rolled out new UAE visit visa updates making travelling to the nation easier and attractive from travellers across the globe.

Some noteworthy new visit visa rules in UAE include longer-duration visit visas, stricter document compliance, in-country visa renewal, visa-on-arrival for more eligible Indian nationals and streamlined online application processes.

Let us look at these changes one by one.

Visit visa now available for longer duration (30, 60 and 90 days)

Under UAE new rules for visit visa, you can apply for a 60-day and even a 90-day visit visa, whereas earlier only the 30-day option was available.

Now you get:

  • The option to stay longer in the UAE
  • No last-minute extension requirements
  • The freedom to choose stay duration
  • More options bring greater flexibility for travellers.

The new 5-year multiple entry visit visa in UAE

UAE now offers a sponsor-free tourist visa with a validity of 5 years. During these five years, you can visit the UAE multiple times without applying for a new visa every time.

In each stay, you can stay for up to 90 days, extendable by further 90 days. With a total stay of 180 days (6 months) in a year.

What you need to get one? Under new financial rules of 2026, you need to show a bank balance of USD 4,000 for last 6 months.

This is especially for you, if you:

  • Visit UAE frequently for business trips
  • Have friends or relatives living here whom you visit regularly
  • Like to spend your holidays in the UAE
