As the world goes digital, the UAE is leading the way. The Ministry of Economy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) have released a new collaborative report indicating that digital trade activities in the UAE are projected to grow and prosper. Trends suggest a compound annual growth rate of 12.3% from 2023 to 2028. One of the UAE government’s digital initiatives is the e-channel system. To enhance transparency and simplicity in immigration procedures, this system aims to boost the efficiency and accuracy of visa and residence permit issuance. Individuals looking for residency or visa services, including foreign entrepreneurs in the UAE, can avail of numerous benefits through this system.

This blog provides complete knowledge about the e-channel UAE, including how to register for it and the fees involved.

What is e-channel system UAE?

The e-channel UAE system is an online service portal introduced by the Ministry of Interior (MOI), UAE, to make immigration, visa, and residency-related applications hassle-free and simple. It allows typing centres, companies, and individuals to apply for residency and naturalization services online. This means applicants don’t need to visit service centres in person, making the process more convenient.

What can be done through e-channel?

The following activities can be done on the e-channel system UAE:

  • UAE nationals can apply for sponsored individual services.

  • Companies can apply for residence and visa permits.
  • Individual GCC residents can apply for new visa permits.
  • Visitors can apply for new visa permits.
  • Applicants can check their application status and print visa-related documents.

Benefits of e-channel UAE:

The following are the benefits of the e-channel system UAE:

1. Speedy processes:

The online channel system eliminates the need for applicants to go to different government offices for immigration or visa services. This reduces waiting time, eliminates traffic and parking issues, and saves applicants considerable time and effort.

The online portal provides access to different visa services round the clock, offering applicants convenience and ease. All the services are available at their fingertips. Additionally, fees can be securely and swiftly paid online with an instantly generated receipt.

 3. Minimal paperwork:

The new online system greatly reduces the need for hard copies of documents. You can scan the documents, such as passports and ID cards, required under the service being availed and upload them on the portal.

 4. Efficient operations:

Users can receive all the important notifications and updates on their phones regarding their applications and easily track them. Corporate firms in the UAE can easily apply for their employees’ work and residence visas.

 5. Uniform system:

The online system has simplified data and information sharing. All six emirates utilise this system except for Dubai, making them all strongly connected. Dubai has its own separate system for managing such operations.

6. Reduced load on immigration & administrative centers:

Earlier, the immigration and administrative centers saw a rush of people applying for visas and permits. But with the introduction of online portal and digitisation, the work has shifted considerably online, freeing these departments from the burden.
